HOW TO COMMISSION A SCULPTURE

Consultation 

We will discuss the pose, size, level of finish, and final cast material (including whether it is to be free-standing or mounted on a base) for the bust. From this, we will agree on a price for the portrait. 50% payment is required upfront before I commence work.

Photographic sitting with the subject

This process typically takes 1-2 hours and involves photographing from different angles and taking measurements, preferably in my studio in Lewes. However, if visiting the studio is not possible, I am happy to arrange a visit to your location to do this.

Sculpting

I sculpt the portrait in clay using photographs, create a mould, and cast it in Jesmonite. This cast can either serve as a finished piece or as a reference model for the foundry to produce a bronze version. 

Cost

Prices start from £3995.00 for a half-life-size portrait in plaster-resin.

Portrait or statue of a famous face or public figure (from research)

If your commission is for a portrait or full-figure statue for public display, please contact me to discuss the project. I usually create a small maquette to approve the pose, which can also help with fundraising. As I work from photographs, I can create accurate likenesses from my own research.
